Count the units and say if they run
Number of vehicles, and whether each one starts, steers and rolls. A non-runner needs a winch and takes a spot that a running car would fill faster, so it changes both the truck and the price.

Open or enclosed
Open carriers are how most vehicles move and cost noticeably less. Enclosed protects from weather and road debris and is the normal choice for classic, exotic, low-clearance or high-value vehicles.

Describe the access at both ends
A nine-car carrier is around 75 feet long and cannot enter most residential streets. Say whether pickup and delivery are dealership, terminal, or a house on a narrow road, and expect to meet nearby if it is the last one.

Size and ground clearance
Dually pickups, lifted trucks and long-wheelbase vehicles take more than one slot. Very low cars need ramps or a lift gate to load without scraping.
How many, and how far
Per-unit cost drops as the count rises, and long lanes cost less per mile than short ones. A single car across two states is the most expensive shape this freight takes.

Open is the right answer for most vehicles: it is how new cars reach dealerships and it costs substantially less. Choose enclosed when the vehicle is high-value, low to the ground, freshly restored, or when road debris and weather exposure are not acceptable risks.
Can you move a car that does not run?
Yes, on a carrier equipped with a winch, as long as it steers and rolls. Say it in the posting. A vehicle that will not roll or steer at all needs different equipment entirely and should be described that way.
Is my vehicle insured while it is on the truck?
Carriers hauling vehicles carry cargo insurance, and the carrier's authority and insurance status are visible before you book. Confirm the coverage amount against the value of what you are shipping, particularly for collector or exotic vehicles.
